South Area 11

The area name, Nakabayashi, appeared in historical documents from the 14th century.
The Hayashi Clan, ruler of the entire area, led a group of samurai. The clan was brought to ruin, however, for its allegiance to Emperor Gotoba, who had been defeated in the Jokyu War of 1221. It has been said that there was a Hayashi Clan residence in Nakabayashi; however, no trace of it sites.
In 1712, farmers protested for a reduction in tax around the area which is now Nonoichi City. A farmer from Nakabayashi was questioned by Kaga Domain.
Nakabayashi was merged into Nonoichi Town in 1955. The area around Tomioku junction was the center of Tomioku Village with many important facilities such as the village office and elementary school.
