Nonoichi in Edo Period (1603-1868) was the first post town on Hokkoku Road from Kanazawa Castle to Kyoto.
Temma toiya provided horses and handlers to transport official travelers and luggage. This transport service was available in each post town station throughout the country, and horses and handlers changed at the temma toiya at each post town. The individual managing the business was called temma kimoiri. It has been said that the Seo Family was engaged in the business in Nonoichi. In 1666, 87 horses were stationed here, and 73 were posted here in 1681.
